The Kaufman family has been selling diamonds and jewelry since 1929 when Richard Kaufman's grandfather Max Kaufman began selling diamonds in Boston, MASS under the name "International Diamond Company". Richards' father Harold Kaufman graduated North Eastern Law School in 1932. Harold Kaufman owned several businesses and worked for the National Jewelry Chains as an Executive on special assignments throughout the country. Upon retirement and Richards' completion of college Harold assisted Richard in starting a five store location operation in West Palm Beach, FL in 1969. In 1991 the company downsized to one location. Richard and his wife Diane of 28 years currently run their store in a large Regional Mall with 5 department stores and 150 other stores. Their daughter Sylvia and son Michael work part-time in the business. Michael graduated at the American University in Washington, D.C.. in May of 1998 and is currently attending law school in Boston.
